Do I really need to be on every social media platform?

4 min read

Short answer: no. Here's how to work out which platforms are actually worth your time.

It's one of the most common questions small business owners ask, usually after someone has told them they simply must be on the newest platform.

You don't need to be everywhere. You need to be in the right places. And the right places are wherever your customers already spend time, and wherever you can realistically keep showing up.

Start with two questions. Who are you trying to reach? And what can you sustain? One platform done consistently and well will beat four platforms done badly every single time.

If you're stretched across several channels right now, try this: pick the one that has brought you the most enquiries or conversations in the last six months, and give it your attention for the next 90 days. Let the others sit quietly. You can always come back to them.
